SECRET 2 B. The System will include a common cryptographic sub- system compatible with teletypewriter terminal equipment employed by both governments. C. The System will be interconnected via telegraph switch- boards at the Bonn MOD and Washington German Military Representative location. D. Privacy of communications will be assured by use of a separate key list for crypto operation. III. Responsibilities A. The Federal Republic of Germany will be responsible for (1) provision of cryptographic equipment for its terminals, plus spare parts and documentation; (2) maintaining the circuit between Bonn and the GMR location in Washington; (3) operation of the switchboards; (4) provision of key lists as required; (5) turnishing technical details on the switchboards to the technical representative of the United States. B. The United States will be responsible for (1) provision of cryptographic equipment for its terminals; SECRET Reproduced at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library.
