L said they held forth over there for three or four hours. L said he
indicated the way he leans - it will be the hard position and it will
be bloody for a little while. K said the President will really appreciate
this - said he and President were talking earlier about White House-
Defense relations and he is most grateful. L said if we can keep everyone
quiet for ten days we will come out fine. L said it makes the trip much
more important too as far as talks are concerned. L said he thinks we
have ourselves in the best position we could be in. K said he would make
sure the President knows this.
