K asked whether Pakistan was in S's area - that is just what he told the
President. President wants to get Ayub Khan over here and wondered
if it would create problems now that he has indicated that he is going to
step down. S said this would be interpreted as an American step to
boxx bolster Ayub Khan and be regarded as intervention in Pakistani
affairs. K asked whether S could drop him a personal note on this
and not send it through the whole Department. S said he would do so.
