HAK said the President wanted to get General Abrams back for
a day with minimum publicity.
Laid said he was already scheduled to come in this week and would
call HAK on the time of arrival. He is meeting with McCane to
the
present the version of /Vietnamizing program Laird is working on.
HAK mentioned the China flights. The President is anxious to
get them started. Laird said he would have something over here
by 2:00. HAK said the President is aware they wouldn't have
protection. and wanted to see the plan Laird had. Laird said he
would call back in an hour and a half with Abrams arrival.
