Laird was extremely upset by the stories appearing in afternnon
papers that Mayo said he could cancell programs in the Defense
Dept on orders of the President and is considering a $10 billion
cutback and had taken responsibility away from Sec. of Def.
HAK said this wouldn't work. Laird wanted to call the President
and HAK agreed that he should telling the President that he ahd
talked to HAK and HAK supported him.
