K said, I wanted to call you about the draft of tonight's statement.
The President is working on it himself, but I thought I would give you
a working draft - that is the only piece of paper I have got.
R said, why don't you just send it over. Iassume it will be only
a
X 5-minute talk. K said, if he follows this working draft he isn't
going to say anything except about the troop replacement and the
fact that it is going pretty well. Rogers said, is he going to say
anything about infiltration? K said, he is going to say infiltration
has picked up - we don't know whether it is to replace losses or
prepare for an offensive, but we are going to watch and will take
actions to protect ourselves. R said, I never have seen anything
as confusing as the statements on infiltration figures. K said,
this is one of the things Richardson and I are going to do in this
study group -- is to study figures.
