H: Can you round him off to 10?
K: Yes. On NSA they've whacked 10 out. Laird called this morning--he's
supposed to give a Chamber of Commerce speech. But he said if we
take off more he'll come back East.
H: We couldn't have that.
K: My worry is that Laird is in an enormous jam at the Pentagon. I wonder
if we could let him get off it and put tax it on the President?
H: What is the right amount there? 3 hundred?
K: Yes, I had a meeting of the DPRC this morning and they are still
kicking that we cut the Defense budget too much. They say we're getting into
trouble with our allies. The danger I see is that we're getting the P into the
position Eisenhower got into, all these things showering in on him.
H: Shall I tell the P 300?
K: Yes.
H:
K
310?
K: I've got Packard in my outer office.
H: 350?
k: I'd rather call Wheeler and say the President wanted 500
