K: All I can tell you is that I was on my way out of this building and if you left
me alone I would be out shopping.
R: That would have added to inflation.
K: That's inside the three mile limit. I don't worry about those things.
R: What's this about knocking off the story?
K: The President doesn't know about this yet. I was doing this as a friend of
Max's. I don't want to make this a tremendous event because no matter what
people think about the system in Cambodia the back of our effort is now going to
be broken which will have consequences outside the immediate area. I was
probably out of line. I said I did try to get Defense to give him as much as
I could. I also said if this was to be a daily occurance, (I wouldn't have bothered
calling him about it. )
R: This is all over the world.
K: No, it was the precision he was trying to get.
R: I must say I don't understand. Let's talk on Monday. Maybe I'm totally
wrong and misguided about the whole thing. Let's knock it off for the weekend
and you should go shipping.
K: Now the stores are closed.
R: That's the way life is.
K: It was going to be my first Sat. evening off. So will you tell Max to take some
Sat. afternoon off?
R: Not a chance -- not with the world going the way it is.
