F: I talked to Lasker last night. He said that because they
are coming down on Wednesday and are now getting organized to
come down, he doesn't think Wednesday noon will be necessary.
K: Okay, but does the President understand this?
F: The President is trying to dow what Lasker wants. I will
inform him of this. They are coming down Wednesday night.
K: What is going on here Wednesday night?
F: A stag dinner for leaders of business and finance, with
a heavy levening of finance. He will try to explain Cambodia and
then gracefully accept their views.
K:
Whatxwax When was that set up?
F: The invitations went out Saturday.
K: Well, this changes all my plans for Wednesday.
F: Now, Henry., you told me you were going to have to go to
New York anyway.
K: I'm not involved in the dinner am I?
F: Not at the moment.
K: Good. Don't push it.
F: Okay. Henry, Maury suggested, and I do not promote this,
that I join you today.
K: You're more than welcome.
F: I feel we have to move on this or we are going to be very
embarrassed on the Hill.
K: I've explained that it them, which is all we can do. It sertainly
isn't a lact of communicating it to them.
