Missed opening of conversation.
HAK: I have had an urgent call from Rogers and he has been ducking
my return call SO I wondered if you knew anything about it.
Haldeman: He is coming over with Elliot at 5:00.
HAK: To discuss what?
Haldeman: Moving over to HEW. So now you have no friends at State.
HAK: I'm sorry to lose him but you are better off with him than Murphy.
As much as I hate to see Richardson move.
Haldeman: The President talked to Rogers and Rogers talked to
Richardson.
HAK: Richardson has agreed?
Haldeman: He xxxxxxxxx wasn't asked, he was told.
HAK: All I ask is that you give us a veto on the Under Secretary.
Haldeman: OK.
(There was then some discussion about Expective Rush for the position of
Under Secretary)
HAK: I take it that fasting has been turned off.
Haldeman: Yes, he will aee him after he has had lunch.
HAK: Has he agreed to stop?
Haldeman: Yes. ? (Missed last part of conversation)
