S: I have two or three questions I would like to say I have a WH answer on.
K: Only if I give the answer you want.
S: Diem has heard about this bxx group of Congressmen and Senators who
Klein axixex is taking out.
K: I got outraged complaints from your two highest men.
S: He wants to know if his President has to get involved in it.
K: I think it would be nice if he saw them.
S: I heard they were transitting VN enroute to Cambodia. But now I hear
they will stay awhile.
K: I will get you an answer.
S: Secondly, about the speech. He wants to assure his President that it's just
an accounting of the campaing.
K: What else could it be?
S: He wants to be sure there's nothing else.
K: No. You know, I;m not the final drafter of these things. From my under-
standing that's correct.

S: Phil doesn't have to make any changes?
K: It's just an accounting of the military situation. He will save the diplomatic
thing for July. That NSSM thing -- are you on it?
S: We will hit the deadline on the negotiation thing --
K: I will get a special meeting on that.
S: If it went through the regular channel there will be questions I think we
should avoid. I will hear back from you on this group.
