    "ocrText": "TELCON\nAlice McDonnell/Kissinger\n3:10 pm\n6xt8xx 6/8/70\nM: Brian wanted XXXX to know mainly whether you were able to see President\nNixon re the possibility of a meeting.\nK: I have talked about our conversation with him.\nM: What was his response?\nK: I told Brian what I think we should do. I think the thing to do was that he I\nwould do my best to arrange a meeting after he starts eating. And I will do that.\nM: We were under the impression that it was going on the meeting whether or\nnot he will go off the fast.\nK: It's difficult through an intermediary. I was impressed with him. It would be\nan act of confidence and grace not to do it in relation with his own immediate\nsituation and I will do my best to arrange an appointment and I usually succeed\nwhen I do my best. I think frankly as a friend of his, I hope, it will be much more\neffective to do this axix if he does it for what he believes.\nM: You have not talked to President Nixon and asked him?\nK: I have, yes.\nM: What did he say?\nK: It would destroy the whole thing (if I told you) and start a set (?) of newspaper\nstories. I told Brian that there would be no sense unless he thought it was\npossible.\nM: Was he favorable or negative?\nK: Re the conversation?\nM: Yes.\nK: He was very impressed.\nM: And the point of an appointment would have to be made after he goes off the\nfast?\nK: Yes, and I would support it strongly. I would appreciate it if we could keep\nthese to ourselves and not in the newspapers.\nM: The conversation we are having now? Did that embarrass you, especially\nwith the President?"
