I wojild like to get negotiations\nstarted.\nK: Don't XXNX you think we should wrap them up together?\nR: On the arms the President could delay a decision if he has a problem. It's\nX rather hairy with Jordan and Lebanon.\nK: I will try for an answer on Wed.\nR: I will fill in for Elliott. You have heard from Gerry Smith. He thinks we\nshould get another option.\nK: We have a Verification meeting next week.\nR: Could we move it up? The President would like something done by Oct.\nK: I think the basic elements of the option are there in B. I think we have to\nlook at it. I don't know if three days will make much difference.\nR: This Thurs?\nK: A week from Wed.\nR: They don't have the other\nthe next meeting is Monday.\nK: Yes and after that we could let them go. Once the President decides he will\ngo for the limited one which I think he will I don't think it will be such a problem.\nR: They will still have a lot of negotiating and the President will be able to make\na final decision but if I could get a limited option. Could we do it Friday?\nK: I won't be here. I had the impression he didn't want movement on this before\nJuly 1.\nR: He thinks it will move quickly and it won't. They will close shop the end of\nMx July. If he is really thinking of an agreement in early October, time is of the\nessence. Gerry keeps asking for new instructions. I don't like them to think we\nare slow.\nK: They were told they would get instructions the week of next Monday. They\nhave been given the details. I just don't think a week makes that much difference."
