K: I just looked at -- we are having a meeting on NSSM 84 and I get conflicting
stories on whether you are invited or not. I wanted you invited. The theological
dispute that arose was whether it should be DPRC or Review Group. Laird
is against DPRC for it SO I was going to have the DPRC members come and call
it a Review Group.
R: I wasn't sure if I was invited or not.
K: I will cancel today and have it tomorrow unless you can come. x
R: I will check my Calendar. While I'm doing that -- Do you think the Preisdent
thinks well of Turner Shelton?
K: He does and would like him to get a position. But I would like him to explain
not on the telephone. Why?
R: We were thinking about a post for him.
K: He wants Bulgaria. That would delight the President. Or anywhere.
R: We thought about Nicaragua.
K: I would think -- I will let you know. If you could make him Ambassador it
would discharge a commitment made to him before the President took office.
R: The other thing I was going to inquire about is the AID message. Any move-
ment on that?
K: The President hasn't fully moved. I have told you that before. That seabeds
came up after a long deliberation. It's on the front burner.
R: OK. I have just been looking over things I have had XXXX some relationship
with.
K: When are you being sworn in?
R: Wed. I think but I am going over Monday.
K: Two things I would like to talk about the Cambodian thing and your reflec-
tions of, now that in you are out of it, the whole WH-State Dept. relationship.
R: How about the first thing first and the other next week?
K: Certainly.
