I like Jonathan Moore.\nI want him to stay. Elliot would like him to go with him. Does the\nPresident know him and have any feelings about him?\nK: The President knows him. The President would feel that\nif you have confidence in him then that's enough. I know him and like\nhim. He doesn't have to move on our account if that's the drift of the\nquestion.\nR: Yes it is. He is undecided whether to go or not. He likes\nwhat he's doing. He's very capable. If we indicated that we have con-\nfidence in him he's stay--if not, he'd probably go.\nK: The President doesn't know him well enough to take a positive\nstand but there's no problem with him as far as our office or the President\nis concerned. He knows him mostly as Romney's assistant.\nR: He worked with Rockefeller too didn't he?\nK: Yes, he worked with me so I can't use working with Rockefeller\nas a reason for disqualifying him.\nR: Okay. I know we're going to meet at San Clemente, next\nMonday. I wonder if we shouldn't have a meeting before. I am going to\nbe pestered with questions and I wonder if we shouldn't check about troop\nwithdrawals before.\nK: What the President wanted was a meeting in San Celmente with\nyou and yne or two of your assistante. I would be a State meeting with pictures\nto offset what was said about the last one. At that occasion he's discuss\ntroop withdrawals, but he doesn't want to take it up here. Every time he\ndiscusses troop withdrawals here a thousand leaks come out--not out of your\nshop.\nR: Why don't you and I sit down for a half hour.
