A: If I XXNMXX came down on Thurs. could I have 10 mins. ?
K: I am leaving for the West Coast with the President on Thurs. Unless it were
very early in the morning.
A: How early?
K: 8:00. I won't be back for a week.
A: Tomorrow I suppose is crowded. It'a about something personal connected
with you. A situation at the Council. I wondered if it sometime you would ? ? ?

A: I suppose it's something to do with ? ? ? but I don't know. We need a man X
for director of research. Do you see any feasible time?
K: Director of research and councellor? I can't hear you very well.
A:
We want XXXXXXXXX someone who can revive the conncil's prestige intellectually
That means research studies and an assistant willing to do the administrative
side and direct meetings and SO on.
K: You know how I feel about the Council. Anything I can do to help. I have
no intention of leaving this year. And your problem is this year.
A: Next winter maybe.
K: It would be irresponsible to tie myself into a deadline.
A: It would be to the advantage of the country if that in the long run could be
worked out. I don't want the chance to go by without talking about it.
K: I will be back on the 7th, or the 6th. One of those two days. Would you
like to come for lunch then?
A: I will do anything for this cause. If you want to talk about it, I will come
down.
K: I would with the understanding that it's an unprobable shortterm proposition.
A: Call me when you come back.
K: What's the problem
