B. McDonnell
1100 a, m.
7/8/70
M: I hear of another study of campus unreast. That two men are going to release
it.
K: The people who saw him yesterday? I think it's going to be released.
I
have never heard it isn't.
M: They themselves get an interview out of it saying that their study suggested
closing down some universities. And if the President ¹ refused to release it they
WO uld release it.
K: I don't know the details.
M: The only reason I wanted to get to you I wanted to read to you what I said to
Scranton. I suggested he can get in touch with like Wm. Roth in Calif because
he opposed Reagan and stayed in favor. What I said about you and
in
their letter: "I think part of the commission should look at student unrest in
Engalnd, France, and Scandinavia. ? ? ? ? Thereby expand. ? ? ?
?
I fear Ehrlichman only presents one approach. The fact that Henry Kissinger
comes form an academic background, he might have an interest. ? ? ? ?
I feel the effect nationally would be doubled. 11
K: That's fine.
M: But if these others release a report prior to that, it will kill it.
in
K: But we are not a tough spot to stiffle it.
M: Maybe if you announced that the Scranton document needs to be released in
conjuction.
K: The other document is very superficial.
M: They will feed a lot of people. I am suggesting that in any real way that some-
thing that could come out of the WH is that they intend to release the Scranton
mowever
docuemnt. But XXXX I thought if we said we wixx are working looking at student
unrest internationally as well, it would take some of the guts out of these guys whox
VX are screaming about Berkley and Columbia because this could destroy any
good of the Scranton document.
K: I will see what I can do and probably see you the Sunday a week and definitely
a week from Monday.
