K: Are you going to be here for the M, E. meeting,
J: I am going over this with Joe here now.
K: Maybe you and I could have 10 mins. afterwards.
J: Good.
K: You are going ahead with Swank?
J: The routine will be done todya.
K: I notice Given (? ) said something be done today. Do you think someone
should tell the Secy. about the M. E. before he blows a fuse?
J: I have kept him informed,
K: Joe may have showed you the guidance here for the TV thing which is not
how it came out, That Kraft story is mischevous, This XX happens to be
there's
one area where XXX not even a nuance between us,
J: Evans/Novak isn't helpful either.
K: The President had no intention of rebuking the Secretary. That didn't
cross his mind.
J: No one here feels that. I didn't tell him exactly how the TV show came
out. I ddn't want to. in a cable. I have sent him what the press had been
saying.
K: Wex Should I send him a back channeL?
J: It might be useful, He will be leaving Tokyo this evening for London.
K: I will send it to London. The President has approved a package on a limited
position and we are working on a decision memo, Your people can work out
talking points for London.
J: We will do that, If we have it this afternoon
K: You will have it before COB, I will send the Secy. a personal backchannel,
J: I have no sense he is disturbed about it but I think it would be useful.
