S: I have just had hand-carried to you the memo of the Dobrynin thing I talked
to you about. I showed it to the Secy. You can decide if you want to show it
to the President.
K: I will. Are you sitting in on the other meeting?
S: No, he wants to discuss European security. I don't think he will get into
the Middle East. The Secy. is fully briefed. I briefed him. You will see that
when the Secy. spoke to the Secy. General
K: I noticed it and he gives credit to the briefing at Blair House.
S: Everything is fine with the Secy. He made some good remarks about what
I have done, at the staff meeting today. I told you he would come to his senses.
K: The feeling here is warm. The next time you are over we will drop in on him.
S: I don't want to be thanked for doing the job as I see it.
K: But you can't refuse to see him if he asks to see you.
S: I can. I am a terribly ornery basterd.
