Schultz sent me a letter dated 20 October raising cain about my not
being forthcoming on how to reduce the budget further. I am going to
send you a copy of my reply. I hope you won't think it sounds like a
snide reply but I can't reduce anymore.
K:
Mel, you don't want to cut. You shouldn't.
L:
I won't cut unless I am ordered to do it. My memo is 5 pages of
exactly why I can't do any more.
K:
Right.
L:
I want you to have a copy. BOB and the White House are trying to make
me into a Louie Johnson.
