K: I thought you might like to know on a strictly personal
basis that I saw Dobrynin yesterday and asked what he thought of the
Khrushchev memoirs, whether then were authentic. He said he had no
question whether they were. His theory is that some Westerners had
tape recorders in their pockets while Khrushchev talked and he didn't
know they were being taped. I am not asking for confirmation -- if
I
were I would ask directly, but I thought you might be interested. I will
tell you some time his interpretation of what he thinks happened to that
Kennedy quotation. But this is just for your information - - please don't
tell anybody. I am reading it with kgreat fascination.
