Mr. Kissinger/Mr. Haldeman (not verbatim) January 4, 1971 11:00 a. m. jlj H: Hello Henry. K: Hello. I can see now who the strongest man in the organization is. H: Who? K: You got the President to come out here. H: Mrs. Nixon did. K: That's right. But I think it is the right thing to do. It is glorious out here. H: The weather is good? K: It is glorious. It's not warm - upper 60s or lower 70s. It is nice during the day and cools off at night. Bob, I have two schedule questions. When is the President leaving? H: He is leaving at noon. K: He must be leaving later than that. Isn't he seeing Freeman at 12:45? H: 11:45 K: Oh, then that means you will be here around 3 p. m. However, that's less important than when you are coming back. The reason I am asking is that I am trying to arrange my schedule and I don't know when I can start making appointments. H: Thursday, the 14th. K: Is that definite? H: No. Nothing is definite. K: I am just trying to determine if it is safe for me to schedule meetings later in that week. The President may stay out here H: He has to be back on Friday. He really cannot come back later than Thursday. K: Would he come back earlier? Is he going to Palm Springs this weekend?
