CBS is on their way over here to set up and I will be on the cameras on this Church proposal today about a joint declaration by the President and Congress that we intend to leave South Vietnam. Did you see Face the Nation today? K: Anything on which I cannot talk I do not see. D: I can't remember anything that the President said specifically, can you? K: I can't really think of anything right off hand but let me The only thing is as soon as you do this they will hit you on a date. The President has offered withdrawal within 12 months if this was in his package of October 7. D: He said total withdrawal? K: Yes . D: That is of course if the President is on firm ground. K: Let me look into the actual language and get back to you. When are you going to be on camera? D: They are on their way nowand should be in my office about 6:15 and set up. I should be on camera by 6:30 p. .m. What Church was really saying was we do not trust that we will get out. K: Let me check. Hang on a minute will you? [conferred with Haig]. I will get you the answer and call you back. Mr. Kissinger/Senator Dole February 7, 1971 6 p. m. jlj K: I have the language here - let me read it. (HAK reading from President's UN speech of 1969 - September 2, 1969 ? ) am prepared to withdraw all our forces. D: This is even better yet. K: You can just say that we have accepted the principle of withdrawal.
