Nothing goes as far as units are concerned until Fri. or Sat. and it\nmay be bad weather or a bad\n.\nWe want it to be that SVN are occupying\narea. I don't think Southerland XX should be at meeting when they\ninitiate. I understand you are going to talk about this this afternoon.\nK: I will look at it carefully. Haldeman wslo at the meetings.\nL: We have these contacts if they want to have Ron or Dan in charge fine, but\none person should be in charge. Even in our briefings it's important to have one\nperson briefing the whole operation xxxxxxxxxxx because he won't know how far\nwe will go and it will look like we have failed.\nK: Stennis received the whole operation. Ford was given a rougher idea and\nAlbert this morning, the same.\nL: I visited with Gerry and his understanding is all right. He wasn't carried too\nfar but he has the idea about the airlift. But he has left town.\nK: I told Gerry there might be one.\nL: He won't talk about it. He does seem to have the understanding there will\nbe one. kfx As far as Mansfield, Bill didn't go that far.\nK: Nor with Albert. We siad there might be but not that there would be.\nL: If it has been Thurs. or Friday of this week we to wouldn't have been able to get\nin because of weaterh. On the Prairie Fire teams for the next 6 weeks I have\ntaken Americans off. One might get shot and you can't tell he warn't in there\nwith troops and SO many SVN there that they don't need Americans with them.\nThey can handle it OK and it will be better.\nK: What area does that involve?\nL: Along the Laotian border. That's where they weregoing into Base 7 and 604.\nK: That's a good idea.\nL: We might get caught up in something and these have been green berets and\nit's hard to say they are not a combat soldier.
