B. Kalb/Kissinger
late morning
2/25/71
-2-
K : So long as Mr. Kalp understands.
BK: We want to be sure it's not anemic. My own feeling --
K : If you think we shouldn't do it, I can understand it.
BK: We ean do it if we are open about what we are doing and viewer
would understand it's sensitivity of area.
K : We are agreeing that I will make clear what I cannot answer.
BK: Then if someone asks questions you cannot answer then you
will say so.
K : It's just you, isn't it?
BK: No, Marving and John Hunt in NY. They will carefully lead in
on what we are saying now. John will go into saying your jov is
sensitive and suggest that what the report hopes to accomplish, etc.,
and then perhaps we can go into some of the sentences.
K :
How long?
BK:
20 mins.
K : At what hour?
BK: 7:15. We would probably go on about 7:30. We haven't done
anything like this since last fall.
K : I am usually belligerent at that hour.
BK: So am I.
C: It could be more fascinating.
K : If you could straighten this on procedural things.
BK: And build on report.
K : What it hopes to accomplish , what differences from last year.
BK: What bothered me is if we strayed off into awkward areas then
you can say
K : Give me a chance early in the program -- why I cannot offer
certain things.
BK: Make it clear and then we can handle some of it in our intro-
duction and then you can establish what you can and cannot do.
K : Let's do it on this basis. We are gentlemen on this. You don't
want to embarass me.
