TELCON Mr. Kissinger/Martha Mitchell & The Attorney General 7:35 p. m., March 2, 1971 The Attorney General AG: Henry, I just got a call from Max Fisher. Apparently he called Sisco or Sisco called him but I gather it was the former. Sisco let Max Fisher know they were going to have to condemn Israel on Thursday. The scenario I saw today. K: That's right. AG: It is within K: Oh, yes. After I talked to Rabin, he called Sisco and he sent me a copy in which he said he would like to make clear the following points (read the four points). In other words we are going to have one hell of a blew out on Thursday. M: Does this change anything we said today do you think? Should I talk to the President? K: If Fisher called you, you can use that as a pretext. M: All right. K: Or you can wait until the fat is in the fire. AG: Which do you think? K: I think we are locked in the condemnation. AG: The French and British. K: You could let all hell break loose. AG: The French and Israelis will react in the press and the Israelis will react pretty strongly. Maybe it is better to take that initial step. K: Think it is too far gone. AG: Will get the State Department's neck out. K: That's my view.
