    "ocrText": "Telecon\nMr. Kissinger\nAdm. Moorer\n3/17/71; 6:55 p.m.\nK: The President is really going on about these stories in Laos and these\nstories of helicopter pilots. What is the story? I have been telling him\nwe have no information.\nM: That's correct. Some young warrant officer 19 years old might say.\nI talked to the Chief of Staff in Pearl. He says he has an intercept from the\nNorth Vietnamese saying that the movements by the South Vietnamese are\nbeing conducted in an orderly manner. I was trying to get a copy of that to\nshow you. We don't have any indication of that and, of course, Haig is\nright there now. I don't blame the President.\nK: He wants something to be done about these pilots that are mentioned\nby name.\nM: When Knowles went out there I told him to take it up with the Squadron\nCommanders -- to explain what havoc they wrought. They were told, I\nunderstand, to say nothing.\nK: Do you think you could get a message back here that I could show the\nPresident tomorrow morning that gives the assessment from out there\nand what actually is going on. I think that would help an awful lot.\nM: Sure. (The following is in answer to a question I did not hear.) Three-\nday operation around LoLo killed 1100 North Vietnamese and lost 66 of\ntheir own people.\nK: That was partly planned.\nM: I will get you a message. It just infuriates me -- these people tight\nwrite\nthese headlines. I will get you a message directly from Abrams.\nK: And there is nothing going on that we have not counted on.\nM: That right. This was in the plan. I told you we had message today\nfrom Abrams discussing a conversation he had with Lam. I went back to\nAbrams\nI told you.\nK: No, you didn't tell me.\nM: Yes, I did. I had ideas from Abrams that Lam had about coming down\nthrough Pass 611. He gave a rough schedule and says it would last until\nApril 15.\nK: Oh, yeah!"
