ution on the floor of the House. They gave a report that the President was
going to set a time on POW Thing. They got the indication from the visit.
K: Absolutely not. I was there.
L: I am meeting with them shortly.
K: What the President said was that you people have to ask yourselves if you
will take responsibility for knifing the President in the back when he is close
to success. That was his theme. He never said a word along that line.
Don't give encouragement to that.
L: I won't. They voted --
K: I know what it is. It's good for us, isn't it? I would rather they make a
irresponsible thing.
L: If they show they forced us, it's not good politically. They are voting on
the Gates proposal too xxxxxx -- to end the draft in a year.

L: The first was the caucus but this is the Gates draft. They are firing in to
support Whalen amendment. It will be a close vote. It's come up a couple of
times this afternoon.
K: Absolutely untrue.
L: Albert said he was supporting the President and this resolution.
