Take that paragraph out. There may be a problem with the
press copy, but I think we can still do it.

I told Rose to check it.

It hasn't been given to the press yet, and they can rerun it.
P:
I think we should leave it on an upbeat. The conclusion has
a lot about sorrow in it. People don't want to hear about sorrow SO
much. You can call Rose and tell her to cut that.
K:
I will get it done this minute.
P:
I told her to hold it until she heard from you.
K:
I have called Connally. He is fully with you. He said, "I am
glad he is not getting the boat with McGovern -- it's too full already.

How about the number?
K:
He said fine. He is 100 per cent behind you. You won't have to
worry about him.
P:
He is the only Cabinet officer there is.
K:
Agnew is on the West Coast; I have a record of having tried him.
P:
I would try to reach him about 7:30. Okay, we will take that
paragraph out.
