China thing. I heard Marvin Kalb. He must have gotten that from Green.
K: And the editorial in the Christian Science Monitor. But 99% is the other way.
They are doing it for X cheap headlines. Theyare not doing it on VN.
P: It's good Haldeman has given Scali responsibility on this.
K: I have given Scali everything except our secret messages.
P: Teddy White knows too. We were talking on. China before anyone knew it
existed.
K: State only talked about UN representation. Everything has been indépendently
of the UN issue and on response they didn't even know we were considering the
UN thing.
P: They responded and weivill not get into a mickey mouse game.
K: That Rogers defeated Agnew which wasn't that at all.
P: They weren't talking about this issue. We were talking about the UN issue.
K: It is a subsidiary issue.
P: Until we found out what we are going to do. Get John in some,
K: I will see Hx him this afternoon.
P: He will do what you want but give him procedures and no statement. Great
subtlety and do it in the right way.
