Buckley/Kissinger 2:18 p.m. 6/8/71 -2- B: You said a month ago that this year was your deadline. K: I care less about what you write but what I care for is that you don't feel we have gone soft in the head. B: We spent an interesting day at the Hudson Institute last week with Don Brennan/ His formula for live Americans instead of dead Russians is interesting. K: The scientific community is unbelievable. I have a group I meet with and they are beyond belief. Their theory the more Ameridans that are vulnerable the better it is. 4 years ago they had 4 sites. 6 months ago they suggested 4 fields against Moscow and it's tremendous. Now with the agreement with Soviets they suggest one large interceptor and low powered radar and all missiles in one field. That's scientific advice. B: Incredible. How is the morale there? K: Uneven. We have a number of things going in foreign affairs xxxxxxxx field and if we had a bere modicum of support we could end the war but with this country why shouldn't the Vietnamese wait? B: Anything to look forward to in the immediate future to animate your friend? Detente in sight? K: A number of things XXXXXX kicking that would be spectacular. After this month we could have an extraordinary summer and that's not said lightly. Also I thought you might like to know that Dr. Teller is on the FIAB. We have yet to do the paper work. B: We are writing a piece on the Mao-Mao of Dr. Teller. Calling him in the middle of the night and the whole bit. K: Will you come down sometime? B: I will make it a point.
