K: Where?
H: In court.
K: That's the wrong ground. That's irreprable damage which is all it leaves
us by law and that's all right but it's not irreprebable damage to ? ? ? society
and govt. I can say that those are correct arguments that Johnson whould speak.
H: We are not making our line clear between Johnson and us. It looks like we
are the only ones.
K: Ixhaxex If the President says he didn't know know what documents are and
defend the govt. then I think he could make a moveing case.
H: I think hecould bit understandably I don't know.
K: We have to tell them something.
H: Can we wait until John is out of the briéfing?
K: I will tell them to hold up and we will get to them later this afternoon.
H: We have got some how to -- I don't know.
K: We won't do it with one home run. We can do it if we are on the attack
and stay there and take a little flack for a few days but gradually shift it. 1
H: You would argue for the President going on TV?
K: On the whole, yes.
H: Then we should build a case before he goes.
K: If Johnson goes on then the President could still go. But I would --
H: Johnson go on defending himself which brings it back
K: If the President went on to defend Johnson from a certain point of view if he
said what's the country coming to when senior officials are tried in the newspapers
It's one thing this
but to describe them to public as liars on documents
which xxilkx are unread by many and selective.
H: Then it's on the merits of the case,
K: I don't know if people want to know x1xx or believe they are governed by thugs
and crooks. I am uneasy about the evidence. Any evidence that makes McNaughto
