K: Well, I'm sorry I haven't been back to you but frankly I have
wanted to rest out here.
DK: I know that and I hate to impose.
K: I prefer to talk next week and I think that's a better time to do it.
DK:
Then you don't want to go beyond what Ziegler said today.
K: No, I would like to study that text more.
DK: You think we can get into the conversation Thieu had with Bunker?
K: I doubt it.
DK: Had you been led to believe there might be a more encouraging
result than there was?
K: I believed Minh would stay in, but I couldn't remember
how on what basis I formed that opinion.
DK: I mean later on when Bunker began his conversations with
Thieu -- had you at any point been led to believe there would be a more
hopeful SRANX result?
K: No.
DK: I will talk with you when you get back?
K: Right. I will see you in the first two days.
DK: Am I to take it that the Marquis Childs column should be ignored?
K: Totally. I must have been more eliptical than usual because it is
SO totally wrong. Where he got the idea of the number of nuewmen I don't know.
DK: Any chance China will insist on the accreditation prerogatives?
K: No. That's nonsense. They cal tell us we can have only SO many
hotel rooms. But we can tell thim
we assume the press group comes
in and leaves with us. And I might say they have never suggested this.
DK: I hope we will get together when you get back.
K: Definitely Dave. And I am sorry I didn't call you before.
