We will support the resolution but not cosponsor because the
Japanese feel we are not serious about it. We will give up the
ship
I don't know if Fukudo felt that the President was
serious or not.

XXXXX Why don't I call Ushiba and tell him I want to make sure
that he understands that the President shares their assessment.
They have to decide whether they want Taiwan in the UN but without
their cosponsorship it will not be in the UN.
R:
I think that will be very helpful and if they do cosponsor we should
have a fairly good chance of winning.
