K: Most newsmen call me; you make me call you.
A: Interested
you were wrong and I was right. I told him to give
that message to you. Did he?
K: No, because he was wrong.
A: No, it was I who said that. This was my view.
K: No, I think you were probably right, but if you were in my shoes
you would still have played for it.
A: Of course. Do you have a free lunch date next week? Meet at Sans Souci?
K : Next week I can't, but I would love to meet you at the Sans Souci for
lunch. Can we do it the week after?
A: Yes.
I qu ote you in my next column, from "Nuclear Weapons and
Foreign Policy.
K:
How about lunch on Wednesday of next week? I find
I am free.
A: Fine, where?
K: That depends. If you'll let me pay so I have you indebted let's make
it Sans Souci.
A: Let's make it that and charge it to Kay Graham.
K: Okay. How are you?
A: I'm fine. I had a blood test today and the good guys seem to be
winning. It's extraordinary because I had a bad low point a week ago. Everything
seems to look good.
How would you feel about having Rowland Evans join us
He has been nice to me.
K: I like him; he's a decent guy.
A: And he's make effort to pull me back into the reporting business
since I was sick. How would you feel about him joining us at Sans Souci?
K: I like him.
A: Let's make it theee then if it's all right.
K: I like him very much. Just as long as you aren't doing it to avoid being
attacked for being seen alone with me.
