K: You don't think consultation would have helped?
HAK: Prior to the first trip? no. There would have been no trip. We will
discuss it another time.
K: It's not limited to 7 Europeans.
HAK: But that's what you made a cade of .
K: I am talking about the impact of other countries. Britian.
HAK: We couldn't have effected them. We are closer to them then anything on
these things.
K: Just couldn't move them. Is it possible that going down with strategy this
is where we come out.
HAK: It would have been better if it hadn't happened SO rapidly.
K: That's my feeling, In a year or SO. Several feelings here. I wonder if they
will read it and XXXXXMX especially the close vote in the Senate yesterday as
indicating no support for Taiwan. They voted for authroization for Taiwan
Defense Treaty. 43-40. Close.
HAK: They may get --
K: Foreign Relations Committee axcluxpx attempted to (reapeal? ) 1955 treaty.
HAK: I didn't know that. I have to go.
