TELCON Killian/Kissinger 7:15 p. m. - 11/4/71 HAK: Hello. K: Hello. There is a matter that it might be important for you to be aware of. Do you know about this Aussa (?) report. I must say I personally read the review and it is an outragious report. HAK: I never read it. K: I have a copy of a letter that is in the hands of a number of people signed by Donald Rumsfeld, Counsellor to the President that was written to the President of the Aussa Organization, Robert McCall, which I think is outrageous. HAK: What does it say? K: (At this point, Dr. Killian read a letter from Mr. Rumsfeld to Robert McCall, in which he praises the work of the organization and states what a magnificent service they do. He congratulates Mr. McCall on the important part he plays in the organization.) HAK: Of course, a lot would depend on how bad that report is. I haven't read the report; just the news stories about it. K: Well, apparently copies of this letter are in the hands of a lot of people now. I have this copy and I don't know if it is authentic, but it has the makings of an Oppenheimer case that can be damaging all the way around. HAK: Why the Oppenheimer case? K: One can interpret on the basis of this letter that the Government is involved in the Aussa report. HAK: I can't judge not having read it. You know I personally have a high regard for Weisner and Pornofsky, but I frankly did not read the report other than the news stories. If in your judgment it is out- rageous, you know I have always had a high regard for your judgment. K: I also understand the Congressional Committees are getting involved here. There is a letter going out to all the Congressional committees to give their appraisal of the report.
