TelCon: 11: 50-Nov. 27, 1961 Mr. Kissinger/ Mel Elfin K: How are you Mel. I called you about the following which I would like to keep between you and me. We have announced today the meeting with Heath in Bermuda. E: The only one left is Princess Grace. K: Now are you getting into my social business again. I want to give you advance warning what is going off on the weekend, and this is strictly off the record. We will be announcing a meeting with Sato which will take place in San Clemente and on Sunday a meeting with Brandt. E: Everyone but Princess Grace. Will this all be in December. K: One in January. I would like to get Ron into the act SO he doesn't start calling Ambassadors. I will ask him to call Henry Hubbard. E: No, Henry is on vacation. Phil Cook is out there. K: Should Ron get in touch with Cook. You know now the basic facts. I will ask Ron to call Cook first thing in the morning to give him the dates and places on a private basis the Japanese and German meetings. You won't be scooped by anbody but you will know what you are doing and not look silly. E: Good, I will call Cook and tell him tomorrow to be on the alert. K: But he will hear from Ron in the morning and he will not do anything today. E: Yes. By the way I was suppose to have a date with a CIA man today and he couldn't make it because of the snow. K: That is one of the best news I have heard. When they operate they get things screwed up. E: Well, I will just tell Cook not to go to Los Angeles tomorrow but stay around the pool and I will not even have him talk to any reporters not even me. K: But I want him to talk to you to get things straight. And I will not call you again. E: OK. K: Good.
