Mr. Kissinger/
John Scali
S:
Yes sir,
K:
We have had a lot of good press reaction with respect to the Pompidou
meeting and the President would appreciate it if you could push it
out with Ron.
S:
What kind of play have we had?
K:
The greatest.
S:
You mean you want me to play it as the most beautiful people in
the world etc.
K:
Yes.
S:
Well I expect you will get even better reaction from the British.
K:
And also we would like you to push hard this pro-India kick.
S:
Well Henry, I have been pushing them away from that for quite a
while now inkeeping with what you are working with. Also the
Japanese here - there are five of them here - pushing me why
they are not being brought in on the consultations.
K:
Because we are going to announce it tomorrow.
S:
Here?
K:
In San Clemente.
S:
When?
K:
In early January.
S:
Well, I have assured them that we will meet with them at an
appropriate level.
K:
Yes, but don't tell them any more. They leak like hell.
S:
They are all crying on my shoulders about poor Sato who has been
such a faxtback faithful ally SO I have been saying we will meet
with them at an appropriate level, whatever the hell that is.
