President/Kissinger
2:21 p. m.
1/25/72
-2-
K: Right.
P: We have a good game plan.
K: Ron read it and he is just jumping through the ceiling. One of the biggest
stories ever.
P: What are the leads ?
K: Secret trips, step for peace, new initiative. The Pompidou line adds mystery.
P: We will put it in. Wee you at 7:00. I will be here if you need me. How does
Haig feel about it ?
K: Delighted. I can't say often enough what we did after I saw you last night saved
it. Saved us from guerrila war today.
P: Finch going to Calif. He raised an interesting point. We have Mansfield
coming out for Indochina peace conference. Come down hard on fact of Cambodia
and Laird.
K: That was in May 31 proposal, in every one we have made.
P: On Indochina Peace Conference. Say it in XXXXIXXX front of Mansfield.
K: Excellent.
