P: You say you have to have this memo right away? I am looking at it and want
to modify it. You said 1:00.
K: Not that urgent. Early in the afternoon because there may be a press
conference tomorrow.
P: Isn't he going to appear before the committee?
K: That's executive.
P: It's all right for him to have a press conference.
K: So we thought it would be helpful over there this afternoon so it can be
used in preparation.
P: I think we can get it over.
K: 2:30 or 3:00.
P: I will work on it. You don't think the Chinese Amb assador thing is pushing
too hard?
K: Not doing it -- he has already gotten Anna Chennault -- would be bad.
P: You and I. Are you seeing him after?
K: I have seen him.
P: I will say ? ? ? ? . Pass that on. I have Romney at 3:00.
K: 4:00 ?
P: 4:30. Tell him he is not to come over here -- say I am busy. Tell him
not to walk out to the press afterwards. Say I don't see Ambassadors but because
of friendship I would like him to say hello.
