A: I heard from Nancy that you will be in Acapulco unless
something big and bad keeps you working.
K: That is possible. I will know definitely tomorrow.
A: Anyway, you will go to Acapulco on Sunday?
K: I am planning on it, but I may shift my vacation by 10 days
in which case I will still come to your party.
A: That is wonderful, but it's not the reason I am calling you.
It has to tell you it was such a pleasure to se e you the other night, and
within the limits possible we need to see each other a little more frequently.
K: I agree with you.
A: Friendships, like flowers, should not for any reason go
stale -- I shouldn't say stale, because it hasn't.
K: I hasn't as far as I am concerned.
A: And you know about me. Anyway, if you come Sunday Marion
and I will be glad but it won't be exactly a cozy party.
K: I gathered that.
A: In the particular period we are going in now we need to be in
a little bit closer touch. I have
about our
late friend who wrote about you in his diary a great deal.
K: Favorably?
A:
sane man, a little bit blind God rest his soul.
K: But very intelligentotix .
A: Very intelligent. And the diary is full of documents that
are
from a historic vantagepoint. I wouldn't like to publish it.
K: Does it go through his experience with the Kennedy Administration?
A: More with Roosevelt. I tried to tone down
documents
most difficult piece of writing. But the
of Roosevelt
is Harvard. But that unfortunately would be SO
by such
crackpots that they have become harmless. He brings in documents
that don't
I will work about a week and then take a vacation
