TELECON Bill Gill 5/12/72 12:14 p. m. G: Dr. Kissinger. K: Yes, how are you? G: Fine thank you, and thank you very much for returning the call. We have picked up out of Paris all kinds of reports on this Le Duc tho thing having offered a 10-day cease-fire. K: I haven t t seen it. G: Neither have we and I'm wondering K: It doesn't sound like them. G: No it doesn't, does it. G: Supposed to have been tendered already to our side. K: Total nonsense. G: Total nonsense. All right. The second question I have K: He's holding a press conference just about now, and I don't know what he would be saying but it doesn't sound like my old North Vietnamese friend. G: You wouldn t recognize him if he said it. Can you give me any guidance K: Well I don't know what he would mean by a 10-day cease-fire, but you know, we'd look at it. G: Yes. K: But there's no sense speculating about it because it can't be, you know, it must have some aspects. I d have to see what he's proposing, but it has not been proposed to us. G: All right, then EXERNING officially you know nothing at all about it. K: I know nothing officially or unofficially. G: Either way. All right, the loaded question then, can you give me any guidance on, and admittedly this is a speculative piece even if you can do it in the form that they make weather forecasts on television would you give a
