J:
Right.
K:
You know, they can't sign an agreement without us.
J:
Can you tell me on any basis at all if you would expect to be
there next Tuesday.
K:
Look, we haven't had any official contact to date with them yet
and we are not going to-- we stampeding them yesterday. Even
if we should meet it doesn't mean that there will be an immediate
signature. After we meet with them we will have to go back to
Saigon on this, certainly.
J:
Okay, well good, this gives me a feel for a program. On the
other hand I think--
K:
I think the matter is essentially as I left it yesterday.
J:
That's what is important because I did have a firm grip on it
yesterday, and then today we suddenly have all this coming out
of Paris.
K:
Well, you know, you are going to --both Vietnamese parties are
constantly going to be saying jarring things. I consider that
inevitable.
J:
As you explained yesterday, partly for domestic consumption
in their country--
K:
That's right, and partly to put heat on each other and partly to
put heat on us.
J:
Right.
K:
But I think we've laid out a reasonable course; I think it's
brought us this far and I am certain it's going to bring us the
rest of the way. All of this is off the record, it's just for your
guidance.
J:
Okay, good, well fine, thank you sir.
K:
Bye.
