2 H: Um-hm. K: Anyhow, I think that's a reasonable guess. H: Yeh, I understand your problems and you know I hope that we can keep the rhetoric down a little bit on this. It's kind of difficult. K: But after the election don't you think people are going to quiet down a bit. H: Oh, sure. Sure they' 11 quiet down. Absolutely they'll quiet down. K: Well, I'd love to see you, will you be in Washington at all after the election ? H: Let me tell you what I'm going to do - right after the election Mrs. Humphrey and I are going to take a few days off and go to the Virgin Islands. I'll be in Washington just a day or so before we go on that visit. I'm coming in on the 9th and we're going to be leaving on the 10th. Then I'm going to make a little visit to the Soviet Union for the Committee on Agriculture. I'm not over there to cause difficulty; I'm over there to see what they1 re doing and what they have in mind. K: You wouldn't be causing difficulty anyway. H: And then possibly drop off in Poland just to K: Can we do anything for you on this trip? H: I'11 tell you I would like very much to see some of the key people over there that we need to talk to - like the Minister of Agriculture. Henry Bellman of Oklahoma is going with me. It's a bipartisan . K: I'll talk to Dobrynin and to the Polish Ambassador because I think in the next four years on foreign policy anyway, you and we can work very closely together. H: Oh, very much so, Henry. On the whole issue of national security. K: That's what I think.
