Donald Marron/Mr. Kissinger
2:17 p. m. , January 24, 1973
K:
Don, How are you?
M:
I m fine, how are you?
K:
Okay.
M:
I called up to congratulate you.
K:
Aren't you nice.
M:
I think it's a remarkable accomplishment.
K:
Aren't you nice.
M:
I haven't called with all the ups and downs the last few months -- I thought
you had your hands full.
K:
I thought all of your consultants were having heart attacks.
M:
I tell you, we had more second-guessing consultants going on around
here.
K:
Yeah, yeah.
B
M:
ut I was steadfast. I was sure things would work out. It looks like they've
really worked out remarkably well.
K:
Oh, yeah. we got essentially what we wanted.
M:
You must feel very pleased about the whole thing.
K:
You know, it's like Women after birth, you first have a letdown.
M:
Yeah, yeah; I can imagine that. Absolutely. But still there's a way to
go. The signing comes Saturday -- are you going over for the
signing?
K:
No.
M:
Secretary Rogers, huh?
K:
No, nothing can happen now. Nothing can interfere now. And there's
nothing to be done unless somebody breaks his arm and can't sign.
