TelCon Sec. Shultz/Mr. Kissinger 4:05 pm, March 1, 1973 K: Hello. S: Hello, Henry. I must say I've been having some misgivings about going on this trip today. With the continuing thrashing around in these markets, I'm spending a lot of time piddling around with that. K: Why don't you wait till Monday and make up your mind then. Not whether you should go on the trip but whether you should $: one of the periods rather than another. S: Well, it may be that it may be better to do it sometime, say, in April or in May or something like that. K: Well, May is a little late. S: We would be better prepared with the Russians, we would have had our--I think have the prospect of the trip itself could precipitate getting some things beside it which we sort of have in place, and. K: It can wait till April, it cannot wait until May. S: Uh huh. Well let me get back to you on it, but I'm half inclined to cancel fofr now. Given all the different things that are going on, not only the int ernational stuff, but the trdde bill and various other pieces of domestic legislation that-- K: How about the names for that commission? S: Oh God, I didn't--I'll get after that right away. K: Okay, good. S: Did you find out anything about Sonnenfeldt and the President? K: Except he has no objections. He wants you and me to talk about it again only on the ground whether we should keep it. S: But he has confidence in it. K: Oh, yes.
