(?)\nS:\nWell, he would have taken the Deputy Director, but Fred Malek\ndecided that he wanted it,\nnotch\nK:\nDeputy Director, yes, but then they offered him one a/dak further\ndown--\nS:\nYes, but they advised him at the same time not to take it, and to\nwait for a couple of years and when the Administration does its\nnext shift that he would be on top of the pile, SO I hope he comes\nthen. He'd make a great contribution to the country.\nK:\nYeah. He's always wanted me to join his firm for which I'm\nspectacularly unsuited.\nS:\nI don't know that I agree with that. As a matter of fact, I disagre e\nwith it, having come from that industry. You read the specs incorrectly.\nYou'd be spectacular in that business. Investment banking, that's\nwhat that business is. People with minds like yours.\nK:\nThat's a new vista in my life that hadn't occurred to me.\nS:\nIt's a marvelous business. That's where Pete's going, you know.\nAnd I've been spending many hours with him.\nK:\nOh really. Where is Pete going?\nS:\nWell, I haven't talked to him, he's home now, and--\nK:\nOh, is he back?\nS:\nYes, he got back. He was in the office today. I've been talking\nto him as well as my former partner, Billy Sullivan, and Johnny\nGoodfriend, and he's been talking to Lehman and Soloman. Billy\ncalled me the other day and told me the offer he had\ngiven to Pete, and I would be surprised if Pete didn't take it."
