I first want to add one small voice\nof great congratulations for a job that you've exteemely done well.\nK:\nAren't you nice.\nS:\nI think today is a great day in history.\nK:\nWell, I'm very pleased, you are very nice to say that.\nS:\nI wanted to talk to you, of course, and it's not very satisfactory to--\nnot at all possible to go into detail of some of the things I thought\nwe might talk about.\nK:\nI'm sorry I had to cancel that appointment.\nS:\nWell surely, but we've got time and I d like to do it. I think\nwe've got some exciting possibilities that I  d like to suggest to\nyou. The reason I called, I met today with our special committee\nand I wondered if I might entice you to come to Duke for a\ncommencement speech, an opportunity for us to honor ourselves\nand recognize some of your accomplishments with an honorary\ndegree on May 13th.\nK:\nWell, you are very nice.\nS:\nI realize this is a terrible imposition, but it also would give you\na chance to see a little more of Duke.\nK:\nRight. My hesitation is the speech to tell you the truth, because\nthat always requires an effort of time.\nS:\nWell, I realize that, but on the other hand, you've got so much\nto say that I think almost anything you said in a period that wouldn't\nhave to be really more than 15 or 20 minutes.\nK:\nWell let me think about it for a couple of days and I'll call you next\nweek. By the middle of the week. I'm very honored.\nS:\nSunday May 13.\nK:\nI'm very honored and I tell you as a matter of principle I've turned\ndown most -all honorary degrees this year.
