Hestenas: Yes, but that is not this case. ????
HAK: Look, out here it's going to be impossible, because I am working
on the Annual Report. We are putting out an Annual Report on Foreign
Policy for the President. And if I don't get some uninterrupted time out
here it will never get done. Now, if you are coming to Washington next
week I will try to see you for ten minutes if it is understood it will not be
an interview for quotation. I mean if you want to come into my office and
then write your impressions of what sort of a person I am, I can take my
chances on that. But I cannot give an interview for quotation.
Hestenas: I really will appreciate it. And also if you run into Liv Ullman
she is a very, very good friend of mine.
HAK: Well I may see her tomorrow, and if I do, I'll ask her about you.
Call me on Monday morning. Are you going back with the press.
Hestenas: No, I'm going for one day to Las Vegas and then I go to New
York for 4 or 5 days because I'm writing about theater and so on.
HAK: So you won't be in Washington on Monday.
Hestenas: Would it be possible for me to see you for five minutes tomorrow.
or if you come to LA?
HAK: No, if I come to LA it would be late in the day.
Hestenas: I could wait for you.
HAK: If I come up it will be xgxx for social reasons and I don't want to havel
to worry about an interview or about meeting anyone. If you wanted to
come to my office in Washington for five or ten minutes, if you are there,
when are you going to be in Washington?
Hestenas: Well, I'm going to New York Tuesday or Wednesday but
I will come to Washington for you.
HAK: It's almost not worth your while because I couldn't spend more than
10, 15 minutes.
Hestenas: That I realize. And that's the reason for asking you
HAK: That's the reason for asking me what?
Hestenas: That I was daring to take up your time.
HAK: Call the White House. I had suggested Monday because on the
